I am an experienced, accomplished, and confident attorney. I now provide expert and affordable legal services in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina from my home office in Mountain City.

I grew up here. After high school, I proudly served in the US Army (1982-84) and Army Reserves (1986-89). I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1988 and the University of Denver College of Law in 1991. I then moved to Washington DC, where I practiced international trade, administrative and commercial law for 28 years with the federal government and major law firms. I spent 12 years with my last firm, Mayer Brown LLP, and was promoted to Counsel.

I have successfully represented transnational corporations, governments, trade associations, unions, and individuals, both in the United States and abroad. I argued cases before federal and state courts and international tribunals. I built a strong reputation on providing sound legal advice, authoritative research and writing, persuasive argument, and a human touch.

In 2019, I moved back to Johnson County. I was admitted to practice law in Tennessee and North Carolina. I focus on various aspects of civil law, including real estate, contracts and business negotiations, family law, and other commercial matters. I still practice international trade law as well as cannabis and hemp law at both the state and federal levels.

I view this life-changing transition as a valuable opportunity. I know the region and many people know me or my family. I may be new here as an attorney, but I bring over a quarter-century of legal, professional, and business experience to the job.

I am also involved in our community. In 2020, I helped found a new nonprofit in Johnson County, Hometown Service Coalition, of which I am Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. Having already helped fund recreational and other improvements, we're proving to be a catalyst for change.

I look forward to providing much-needed legal services to the area, along with my unique insights and perspective. Let me take on your toughest legal issues.
